- So what’s is Dolby Atmos fuss all about? – Say you have a screen door banging in the wind. In Dolby 5.1, if a mixer wanted to send that banging noise to the right surrounds, it went to every speaker in the array. In effect, it wouldn’t sound like a single door, but rather several doors banging in unison. In Atmos, however, if a mixer wants to position that banging sound in a particular part of the auditorium, he can treat it in a manner analogous to the way it would be heard in the real world. The sound is emitted from a single point of origin and is heard as a punctual effect rather than as aural ambience emanating from a broader area of the theatre.

- Make movies, not scripts – Often, years are spent developing and refining a script which is then shot in weeks; the problem isn’t that the speed of direction kills—it can make for a thrilling spontaneity and immediacy—but that, when the script has been built with such solidity and has become an object of obsession for a year or more, it becomes not the springboard for filmmaking but its objective, and constrains the filmmaker to be its illustrator, which is exactly the feeling conveyed by many films.

Happy People – Herzog kävi taigalla. Elokuvan nimi ja traileri ovat epäilyttävän hyväntuulisia. Kai se sieltä jättipakastimesta edes jonkun tragedian sai kaivettua?
The Sweeney – En tietääkseni ole nähnyt yhtään jaksoa Sweeney-tv-sarjaa, mutta Q-lehden muinaisen jutun takia esimerkiksi 30 sekunnin kohdalla kuultava You’re nicked!
on tuttu. Sitä paitsi: Ray Winstone, aight?
No – Myönnän, olen kiinnostunut tästä, koska se on kuvattu U-maticilla.
Wrong – Dupieux’n Rubber oli sietämätön, mutta olen silti kiinnostunut uudesta zekoilupätkästä.
Side Effects – Soderberghin viimeiseksi jäävä elokuva, jos Liberace-tv-leffaa ei lasketa. Kamoon, pakko nähdä.
Small Apartments – Kas, Åkerlund on pullauttanut uuden rainan. Näyttääkin ihan sen tekosilta.
